Well I spent Saturday afternoon on the busy floor of Remnant Kings, Argyle Street, Glasgow. I was demonstrating some of my hand embroidery skills and displaying some of work to raise awareness of these fantastic workshops that I am running from the end of August until December. I took in some of my finished hoops and some leaflets listing the dates for future classes. I chatted with some customers and a few people signed up for a class. I thought I would do some sewing whilst I soaked up the beautiful surroundings of fabric, ribbon, buttons and trims. I took with me a stone wash denim summer dress that had a little pocket on it, I had no plan but knew I wanted to embroider something that was a bit of fun!
I decided to go for a plant theme and sewed some tall green stems using the chain stitch. I wanted to create some interest so I stitched it to show the plants growing out of the pocket. I added a contrasting colour of gold/ochre in a straight stitch to show the centre of the plant. I am happy with the result and customers who stopped by were impressed with the effect you can create using only 2 stitches and no plan! If you would like to join me on one of my workshops please drop me an email using the link on my main page or email me at email@example.com I would love to see you there!
