Hurray! I finished my first little coin purse today using the gorgeous glittery fabric I purchased from Celtic Fusion Fabrics. This was part of a beautiful little bundle I have had my eye on for a while. I am in love with these little coin purses and I plan on making some to sell at the Christmas Market in Strathaven in November. I think they will be a lovely little addition to my hand embroideries and a great way to combine my love of stitching and making!
This gorgeous little bundle has a fabulous range of colours and has that lovely shimmer of gold thread running through it. It is a joy to sew with, I cannot wait to finish my collection.
I drew out the template for the size of purse I wanted to make and then placed the fabric inside an embroidery hoop. I then got to work stitching my little cactus using the chain stitch in a beautiful shade of green, I used pearl cotton by DMC. I then used a contrasting shade of blush pink to add french knots and finished with a couple of rose stitches. I chose a lovely fabric from Carolyn Friedlander that I have been saving for something special, the lovely gold shimmer in the flowers compliments the gold on the outer fabric. I love the simplicity of this embroidery and enjoy the change of limiting to two colours. There are some beautiful books out there to help you with making purses and bags, I think I have found something else I love to do..... as well as collecting old tins and dried flowers.
Meanwhile it is back to sorting this bundle of embroideries that will be for sale soon at the Christmas Market in Strathaven on Saturday 18 November, if you are in the area check it out, it is sure to be a wonderful day! Have a great Friday and happy sewing!
